He's not Johnny Depp, nor is he Wycleff Jean...

I do believe he will be just as inspirational though, in his own way! Actually, he already is...

My eyes are still red as I sit down to write this...
This morning on my way to work I had to run a bunch of errands and ended up pulling into Culvers to grab a bite on my way to the jobsite. My mind wandered as I waited for my order, thinking of all I needed to get done. As it did, I was looking in my rear-view mirror and what I saw there made me blink and rub my eyes... could it be?!?!

It was my dear friend W, walking up with my order! I was sooo shocked! W belongs to my Pastor and his wife who I dearly love, and to God... I met W on my first trip to Haiti back in March of 2002. Oh my, how all of our lives have been irrevocably changed since then...

That was the beginning for us all. W finally made it here to the states and to his family a couple of years ago now. (Talk about an amazing and miraculous story! I wish I could send you somewhere to read about it...) When I saw him today in the drive-up at Culvers I was blown away!!! I congratulated him on his new job, told him he'd made my day, shook his hand and drove off...

As I drove, I began to sob, happy tears, sad tears, cleansing tears... Instead of to work, my truck steered it's way home. I grabbed my camera and ran back to Culvers. Yes, of course W wanted his photo taken!! (I knew he would!) I then raced back home and sat down to write. Yes, it's time to finally finish my own adoption story... To read it please go to My Adoption Blog.

This is W with his mom sometime during the week we first met him.
(March 2002)

This is me on my first trip to Haiti, back when my glasses were LARGE and my hair was SHORT!! (and none of us knew yet how to take pictures of black and white people together...) I am holding a baby that this lady tried to give me on my first trip into the village. The baby's name is Savior and she was NOT his mom. I guess I had that 'first time to Haiti' gullible look about me. I'm older and wiser, and sadly, not so naive. There are days now when I wish I'd never laid eyes on the place...

on a lighter note...
The 'Donkey Parking Lot' outside the market. ;)

What a beautiful blog! It's funny how things happen. I don't think you running into W was an accident. It was meant to help you and encourage you to write part 3 of your adoption story.

Remember, in writing the piece, you can take it slow and not in one big gulp. :)

hugs.

Hi Christine!

Thank you, your PM the other day was a nudge, and W was the final push I needed.

I did just kinda puke it out there... I was afraid if I stopped I might not finish. Now, it's out there in the universe and what will be, will be...

Thanks again!

What an amazing story, and what a small world it turns out to be after all! Who would have ever thought you would wake up this morning, and see him!!

You're a sweetie!

Shakes-I saw that you went to the Kurth tonight. Mitch 7 I went to the Dells yesterday on the spur of the moment, and we drove through Columbus on our way home. If he didn't have a softball game(which got canceled anyway), we would have stopped in. I think you running into W is a sign that we need to go further on this adoption thing. We need to discuss it and see if I can help you.

G'morning Shakes!!

I really loved your blog and everyone's responses.

Bear with me, I've a bit of a hangover.

IMO, I think that our lives are like rides set in motion the day we're born. Sometimes the tracks of the ride have forks, and when we make our choice of which track now, a whole new set of tracks are laid out. Sort of a planned sequence I think. We just don't know what's going to happen on this ride...and that is a beautiful thing.

Accidents, coincidences...not really a proper word for all that happens to us, love. I can't think of a good word in our language for this kind of experience.

I'm glad your path crossed with W and brought out all these feelings you've been holding tight!! Now love, you are set in motion to lay out new tracks...let's see where you'll go!!

Thank you Sir,
I think thought like that often. I try not to do the what if's in reverse, but I have been lately...
Thanks for that perspective check and for your kindness!

I'm sorry about the hangover...

Minxie, Calypso, Rachel - I really appreciate the kind thoughts and the continued encouragement.

I'm not comfortable being a needy person, but these days I am very needy in so many ways, humbling...
All of you who visit me here have made me fee I have a safe place to land and I so appreciate it!

No valet that I could see, but i'm sure you could hire one off the street in 2 shakes! dj, I will find more donkeys soon... ;)

shake ~ sending you hugs from afar. I understand how feeling needy is uncomfortable, but there is nothing wrong with it, darlin' ~ you are always there for other people, it's nice that others(we) can be there to support you.

Dionne Warricks song is coming to mind ~ (changed the "me" to "us" & "I" to "we")

"Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on us, for sure
That's what friends are for

For good times and bad times
we'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for"

Sir Jack has some very wise words indeed.
We really should be allowed to meet up with Sir Jack in person.
