help us find a good home...

Almost two weeks ago now I got an emergency call from my landlord. He'd found a baby kitten in an abandoned property, "Could you please take it in and nurse it 24/7???" Yikes, I hopped in the truck and headed over only to get a call a bit later saying he'd found momma and apparently he'd disturbed her in the process of moving her brood of five out of the basement. When I finally got there (to paint the place) a week later mom and babies were living in a cardboard box in the neighbors carport. Mom wasn't too keen on visitors so I respected her privacy. She was looking pretty thin though so I determined to win her over with fishy smelling things...

First the remains of my tuna sandwich. Then I moved on to sardines. Today during sardine delivery mom looked quite a bit better = ) I came with my camera but had a hard time getting her pic as she was more interested in me petting her than in eating the sardines, progress!!!

So sorry all these pics are blurry, kitties are moving and so am I, it's chilly...

Sadly, today I could only find 4 kitties!!!

All but one had their eyes open so I'm guessing they are maybe 3-4 weeks old now. (Perhaps the fourth just has an eye infection.) They are still a bit wobbly on their feet but overall look pretty good.

Here's the little peanut with one eye still not open...

Can you say awwwww....

This little one is my personal fav, and the most active of the bunch so far!

Finally as I was leaving I was able to get far enough away from momma to snap a pic. She was really starved for affection today, even kneading the grass as I petted her. She's not much more than a kitten herself poor thing. She is definitely not a ferile cat, very clean and well groomed despite being homeless for the time being.

If anyone wants this lovely little family I can bring them to you (within reason!) even as soon as this week. If anyone wants just one or two kittens we'll need to wait a bit, I think they still need momma for at least a couple more weeks...

Shakenbsis-
we had 2 dogs that we lost this year they were 13 and 12 and sadly I was the one who had to take them to the vet....they were my "kids" before having kids...and I have a 5 year old and our deal was she could get a cat, we went to the humane society and liked a few and convinced my hubby to get a cat.
in the meantime my mother in law calls and says that they would like to give us their cat "Gabby" who is 5y.o and is familiar with us so we have had a cat now since Monday.I just showed Olivia your pics and she and I love the little orange one, but sadly Gabby is a one cat only cat. I hope you find homes for these adorable little ones.
good luck hopefully I'll see you at the filming on tuesday....Laura

Those kittens are so cute and it is so sweet of you to take them in, including the mama, but somehow, I believe that is your nature ~ a very sweet person with a good heart.

I hope you find a home for them. Please post updates on your blog as to what happens with them.

Thanks :)
C

OMG, you all are so lovely!!

It is so hard when we lose our pets we love so much, and so hard to see others so mistreated.

I will definitely keep you posted on what happens with these wee ones. THANKS so much = )

on the way home from Columbus I called my husband at work and meowed in the phone.

he wanted to know if I brought a kitten home...I told him no, that I respected his wishes, he replied that it didn't stop me the last 2 kittens I brought home...he is getting weaker!

I have been reluctant to comment on the kitties. (Mostly because I'm afraid "I'll take them all" will come out of my mouth).

They are sooooo cute. I hope they all get wonderful homes. They deserve it, and are lucky you found them. :)

PS-Punkin gave me that cranky old man look when I suggested one more kitty. Sorry. ;)

I KNOW! We have to be mindeful of our already established feline housholds...

kitties are so particular about who they let in the door, go figure... I guess there are other boundary things I can learn from my cat! LOL

that is kind of my hope, that someone will want the whole family, who knows... there is a part of me that aches for mamma when I start taking her babies away from her... arghgh...

Your kitties are so cute :) Say an extra prayer for Michelle's beloved Monty, he is not doing well right now and it is really making her feel bad. So, extra love and hugs to Michelle and Monty :)

Those are some sweet kitties! My daughter has been begging for one, but I CANNOT GIVE IN!

Best wishes for a happy home for the young'uns, and for Monty.

I have been meaning to tell you how cute that photo is of you with your Kurth sweatshirt on and JD behind you! That is so cute, it makes me smile and I had to look at it again. (Giggling & shamelessly admitting that I had to look up what Domo Arigato meant - I can sing the song, but forgot what the bleep it meant!)

I wish I had your email address. Somebody on freecycle is looking for a kitty. Her 19yo cat just passed away. I hope it was OK to give her your blog address - I just want to help find a good home for these kitties.
